MS.STYES MADE UP PIC

JADEN

With all the last minute changes for school, the last days are hectic. We have no time to waste. Ms.Styes has a lot planned-like Jimmy's lessons, field trips and last minute projects like our Native American projects.

Our last school days  are sad because Max,our class pet, will not be seen because school is ending. He must be happy though because we gave him a lot of treats.

We've done the Juicy Juice taste testing data . We will miss Ms.Styes and her funny and crazy ideas. On to happy things. We have a field trip to the space museum and to the park to eat and play.  We've had great times together. It's very sad to say goodbye after everything we've done.I guess that's all I have to say. Some students in our room tried out for the RCEC math contest.  Kids who tried out had to take a really long, difficult math test.  A lot of kids took the qualifying test, but only a few were selected to participate in the contest.  Two people from our classroom were selected to help represent our 4th grade.  Jaden and Jimmy both qualified.  Everyone was really excited for them!  They studied hard and finally, they went to the contest.  It was on a Saturday.  When they got there, Jimmy and Jaden were ready to show everyone how much they know about math.  They both did great at the contest and we were proud to have them represent us and our school.

We had our Valentine's Day party on February 14th.  It was so much fun!  We made a root beer float or a strawberry float.  Yumm!!!  We also played a game where we each had a broken heart and we had to go around the room and find the other part of the heart.  Then we played Bingo and we opened our valentine bags.  It was awesome!

January Update

Authors:  Aaron, Kaden, Taylee, Alysa, Brandon and Camille

Lots of kids in our classroom are getting finished with Sunflower Reader, and some other kids have had it finished for a long time.  Kids who are not finished with Sunflower Reader have to take a book outside and read during recess time.   Since early January, 2 people have gotten out of the Sunflower Reader Club because they finished their Sunflower Reader.  Now, we have only 5 people in the Sunflower Reader Club.

In Music, we are working hard on our program.  It will be January 27th, and we're doing things to celebrate Kansas' 150th birthday.  Happy Birthday Kansas!  Kansas Day is January 29th, but we're celebrating on January 27th because we don't have school on the actual day.  January 29th is a Saturday.

Some other things we've been working on are:
  • Math - measurement, long division and lattice multiplication
  • Reading/Social Studies - Kansas character projects
  • PE - Bowling and keeping score in bowling
When we came back to school from Winter Break, we noticed that we got new tables in the cafeteria.  We think it's easier for our custodians to move the tables and take care of them because the other ones were old and hard to use.
